Sunday Fun—Meet Lily

Several weeks ago, while traveling to Susan Wiggs’ writing workshop in Vancouver, I met a delightful woman on the ferry. Her name is Lily, she’s a poet, and she’s turning 94 in a couple of weeks. Lily was on her way to a wedding at which she would be reading some of her poetry.

After a bit of writerly chat, she graciously agreed to pose for a photograph. Here she is, holding my business card and one of my bookmarks, which we both thought went rather well with her outfit.

I especially love her hat. I can’t remember everything that’s on it but there’s a charming little blue and green bird perched right on top. When I'm 94, I'm going to wear a hat exactly like that.

Lily invited me to visit her, so we exchanged contact information and now I’m looking forward to tea with a fellow writer.

Until next time,
Lee

She looks like an absolute delight! I'm certain you'll have a wonderful time.

My prayer is that I age as gracefully as she appears to have. I believe having a passion for something such as reading and writing keeps the mind active and the spirit happy, which must help in later years. So glad you shared your new friend with us.

Beautifully put, Gillian. Passion does wonders for the mind and spirit.

I forgot to mention it in my post, but every week she has a poem published in a local newspaper. If Lily agrees, I would love to share some one of her poems here on the blog.

I sure hope Lily agrees to you posting some of her poetry here on the blog. I love poems. Lily does look as if she is a wonderful person. I bet she is quite sprite.
