It’s March, and some of us are starting to think about spring cleaning, so this month’s Friday Food for Thought "recipes" are for homemade cleaning products. Starting with vinegar, which is surely one of the most versatile household products ever.For an all-purpose cleaner and deodorizer, mix equal parts vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Great for windows, counter tops, etc.And just in case spring cleaning is making you feel overwhelmed, take a look at this "Hall of Shame" photo. Has anyone seen the vinegar? LOL, I am sooooo glad I don't have to tackle that!
If you have a mold problem in the kitchen, bathroom or laundry room, wipe surfaces with undiluted vinegar.
Wipe cutting boards with vinegar to help eliminate bacteria.
Vinegar is an effective weed killer. Simply spray undiluted vinegar on weeds, but be careful to not spray other plants because vinegar will kill them, too. Very useful for getting rid of the weeds that grow in the cracks of a sidewalk, along the edge of a driveway, etc.
And is it just me, or are the insides of the cupboards completely empty?

I use it sometimes in combination with baking soda (which is my all-time favourite edible cleaner).
Sprinkle baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) over a grimy surface like the ring around the kitchen drain and then sprinkle vinegar over. The reaction between the alkaline baking soda and the acid vinegar makes a nice bubbling action that loosens the icky stuff so it's easier to scrub or wipe away – and you can be pretty sure it's killing a whole lot of bacteria and molds too.

Not to mention the whole science fair volcano aspect of mixing vinegar and baking soda!
And rinsing the vinegar and baking soda down the drain with a kettle of boiling water is supposed to help keep the drain clear.
